As a Clinical Pathologist with over 24 years of experience, I have been working at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP) in the hospital area with clinical interface. I am a specialist in Clinical Medicine (GP), Clinical Pathology, and Laboratory Microbiology, and I have been leading the Central Microbiology Laboratory of the FMUSP Hospital Complex (HCFMUSP) since 1999, providing support to the Stewardship and I.H. Group, as well as to clinical and academic research and educational activities for residents and specialized mentoring.I am responsible for implementing automation and innovation processes in the Assistential Microbiology for diagnostic decision support with reduced TAT, and I was the first to introduce the MALDI-TOF technology in the routine diagnosis of the SUS more than 15 years ago. Our team at the Central Laboratory of HC was also the first to achieve the International Quality Certification by the American College of Pathology (CAP), as well as all the national certifications (ISO, ONA, F. Vanzoline), a unique feat in a public hospital in Brazil. In the field of Education, we conducted, in 2000, the first EAD course approved by the MEC in FMUSP in the formation of Clinical Microbiology by Telemedicine. With this pioneering work, we received the recognition of the best work in the First Congress of Telemedicine held in London in 2002. Until 2023, more than 10,000 students participated in our update courses in Clinical Microbiology with a focus on Bacterial Resistance, both in person and by Telemedicine. I also promoted the continuous review of technical flows (POP) with the evaluation of new equipment that enabled the optimization of cost/benefit and that generated integrated value to the clinic, adapted to the individualized needs of our patients and prescribers. I participated in Antibiotic Stewardship projects that promoted the rational and customized use of antibiotics with a direct impact on Patient Safety, generating Integrated Value to the Health System in the SUS with an impact on the problem of Bacterial Resistance.
