possui graduação em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1972), mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1975), doutorado em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1978) e pós-doutorado pela Ecole Poytechnique Federale de Lausanne na Suiça. Atualmente é professor titular da Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Tem experiência na área de Engenharia de Materiais e Metalúrgica, com ênfase em Metalurgia de Transformação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: solidificação, lingotamento contínuo, refino por fusão zonal, tratamentos superficiais por refusão a laser.
