Resumo

O desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico da sociedade moderna está condicionado ao suprimento de materiais com propriedades específicas para exercer funções definidas. Os compósitos constituem uma classe de materiais, cujas propriedades são delineadas e dimensionadas para atender as demandas de desempenho em diferentes frentes de aplicações. O objetivo deste projeto é o estudo e desenvolvimento de compósitos poliméricos com amplo espectro de aplicações. Dentre estes compósitos, destacam-se os com propriedades estruturais, com potencial de aplicação na área médica e os potencialmente biodegradáveis. Como estratégia para atingir este objetivo propõe-se o desenvolvimento novos polímeros e novas cargas, assim como a modificação química de polímeros e cargas disponíveis no mercado. Em linhas gerais o desenvolvimento desta proposta abrangerá importantes áreas de pesquisa, tais como Síntese e Modificação Química de Polímeros, Caracterização, Processamento, Desenvolvimento de Compósitos e Avaliação de Desempenho, caracterizando a natureza fortemente interdisciplinar desta proposta.
