Abstract

Our research focuses on the soundtrack of the documentary film. Our approach privileged a panoramic perspective that runs through the documentary production at key moments of its tradition from the 1920s to 1960s. We spanned the productions of the 1920s and 1930s that began to solidify the documentary film field, the British, American and Canadian documentary schools between the 1930s and 1950s, and the "free cinema", direct cinema, cinema vèritè and living cinema in the 1950s and 1960s. In this track, and in its surroundings, we undertook our efforts on understanding the main settings under which the documentary film soundtrack is established and how it transforms itself (AU)
