Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Biociências (IB)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

I have a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (2006), a master's and doctorate in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the Zoology Graduate Program at UFPR (2010) and the Biosciences Institute at USP (2015), with an internship at the Marine Biological Laboratory, University of Chicago, USA (2014). I did a post-doctorate at USP's Biosciences Institute (2015-2016), with an internship at Kitasato University School of Marine Biosciences, Japan (2016). I am a faculty at the Instituto de Oceanografia, at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG) (2016-current), working at the Biological Oceanography Center and the Zooplankton Laboratory. I teach the courses "Biodiversity of Marine Invertebrates", "Ecology of Marine Zooplankton", "Biomechanics applied to aquatic organisms" and "Oceanographic Instrumentation: Practices and Techniques". I am a member of the management committee of the Center for Subtropical Biodiversity (CBS-FURG), where I am curator of the zooplankton and marine ichthyoplankton collection. I supervise students in the Graduate Program in Biological Oceanography, PPGOB, at FURG (master's and doctorate). I have experience in marine zooplankton, with an emphasis on the biology of gelatinous zooplankton and planktonic cnidarians. Research interests include plankton ecology and biomechanics, jellyfish blooms, functional morphology, population dynamics, outbreaks of accidents with toxic jellyfish, and trophic ecology. More recently, I have been working with high-frequency image capture techniques (super slow-motion), such as digital particle velocimetry (PIV), applied to behavioral and biomechanical studies of aquatic organisms.
