Pedro Lima Vasconcellos

Full Degree in Philosophy (Faculdades Associadas do Ipiranga, São Paulo, 1992), Bachelor's Degree (Faculdade de Teologia N. Sra. da Assunção, São Paulo, 1988) and Master's Degree (Associação São Paulo de Estudos Superiores, 2012) in Theology, Master's Degree (Universidade Metodista de São Paulo, São Bernardo do Campo, 1994) and Livre-docência (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, 2009) in Religion Sciences, Doctorate in Social Sciences: Anthropology (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo, 2004) and Post-Doctorate in History (Universidade Estadual de Campinas, 2016). Associated Professor at the Federal University of Alagoas; there, since 2014, he composes the faculty of the Graduate Program in History. Guest Professor of the "Magister en Ciencias Religiosas y Filosóficas" of the Universidad Católica del Maule (Talca, Chile). Member of Toro - School of Psychoanalysis, since 2016. Member of the Observatorio de Religiones Comparadas of the Universidad de Sevilla since 2018. He was a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (in its Graduate Studies Program in Religion Sciences), where he served until 2012. He was president of ABIB (Brazilian Association of Biblical Research) in the 2008-2010 administration, and occupied the second secretary of its board (2010-2012). He has experience in the areas of Philosophy, Theology and Science of Religion (particularly Texts and Sacred Narratives, History, Anthropology and Sociology of Religion), with emphasis on the New Testament (Early Christianity, Biblical Literature in general), Sacred Texts, History of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, Antonio Conselheiro, Euclides da Cunha, Belo Monte (Canudos), Messianisms and Millenarisms, as well as Brazilian Popular Religion.
