Graduated at the School of Agronomical Engineering of the University of São Paulo (1979), Master of Sciences from University of Cincinnati and PhD in Zoology and Botany at The Ohio State University. Research interests involve the use of fossil pollen and spores in lake sediments in order to reconstruct vegetation and climate of the Quaternary in Brazil. Recent research interests also involve the use of diatoms and other siliceous bioindicators in environmental studies of the Quaternary of Brazil. Research Associate - The Field Museum of Natural History- Chicago (1992-2002; 2015 - Present). Graduated in journalism at the Casper Libero School of Social Comunication in São Paulo, SP, Brazil. Professor of Paleontology and Micropaleontoloy at the Department of Sedimentary and Environmental Geology (DGSA) of the Institute of Geosciences (IGc) of the University of São Paulo (USP).
