Graduated in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (1977), Master's (1980) and Doctorate (1986) in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Prêto- USP, post-doctorate in Bio-Organic Chemistry from the SUNBOR Institute in Osaka, Japan (1994-1996). He is currently Full Professor of Proteomics at São Paulo State University (UNESP). Has experience in the area of Biochemistry of Macromolecules, Protein and Peptide Chemistry, as well as Chemistry of Natural Products of animal origin; specialized in mass spectrometry of biological macromolecules. He has worked in the study of the structural and functional characterization of venomous arthropod toxins, in the metabolomic and proteomic analysis of glandular secretions of insects, in the study of the structural dynamics of proteins and peptides with spectroscopic techniques. He was President and Vice-President of the Brazilian Society of Toxinology; he was Vice-President of the Brazilian Proteomics Society. He was President of the Latin American Branch of International Society of Neuropeptides (INPS), and during 15 years he was a member of the Central Board of INPS. He is currently a member of the Board of the Brazilian Society of Mass Spectrometry. He is a CNPq researcher (level 1B); has about 300 published works. He received the BRMASS medal for his contribution to Mass Spectrometry in Brazil; and the ?Innovation Award -2020? granted by the International Association for the Advanced Materials (Sweden). He supervised 17 master's dissertations, 19 doctoral theses, and supervised 16 postdoctoral internships. He is currently Editor of Protein and Peptide Chemistry at the AMINO ACIDS journal (Vienna); Reviewer Editor of the journal Frontiers in Plant Science - Section of Metabolism and Chemodiversity; Associate Editor of the Journal Frontiers of Allergy, section of Drugs, Venoms & Anaphylaxis. Member of the editorial board of the journals: Scientific Report, Peptides, Amino Acids, Toxins Reviews, Open Journal of Spectroscopy, and Toxicon. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
