Graduate at Zootecnia from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1978), Master's at Zoothecny from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1983) and ph.d. at Ecology from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1990). He served as Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Aquaculture at CAUNESP from 1994 to 1996 and as Director of the Aquaculture Center at São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" from 2005 to 2009. He has experience in Fisheries Resources and Fisheries Engineering, with emphasis on Aquaculture, focusing mainly on Feeding and Nutrition of: Pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus), Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), Matrinxã (Brycon amazonicus), Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), and Surubim.
