D., MS. PhD., Orthopaedic Surgeon, graduated from The University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine (FMUSP) in 1980, took his surgical training and completed his orthopaedic residency at the at The Clinics Hospital of the University of Sao Paulo in 1984. Board certified and fellow in The Brazilian Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He joined the faculty of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the FMUSP in 2000, having served as an Associate Professor since 2007. He is currently Group Head of Sports Medicine at the IOT - HC - FMUSP and Coordinator of its Medical Residency Program. His professional practice and scientific research focus on knee, sports medicine, sports orthopedics and traumatology, lesions of the anterior cruciate ligament, and total knee arthroplasty. He was President of the Brazilian Society of Knee Surgery (SBCJ) and of the Brazilian Society of Sports Medicine and Exercise (SBME). He has actively participated in the recent administrations of the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (SBOT). He has been a member of several Editorial Boards and is currently the Chief Editor of the Journal of Sports Medicine (RBME). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
