Bachelor in Physics from the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (1976), Master in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1979), Doctor of Science (Physics) from the University of São Paulo (1985), Post-doctorate at Brookhaven National Laboratory, NY, USA (1991), Associated Professor at the University of São Paulo (2000). Currently she is a senior professor at the Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo, in the Department of General Physics. Has experience in Theoretical and Computational Physics, with emphasis on Statistical Physics, Complex Systems, working mainly on the following topics: chaos in dissipative systems, fractals, self-organized criticality, earthquake dynamics, modeling of complex systems in biology and sociology. As a complementary activity, from 2014 to 2018, has coordinated/participated in the implementation of active teaching methodologies in basic physics classes at IF-USP and, since 2016, is part of the coordination team of the National Professional Master's Degree program in Physics Teaching (MNPEF), an initiative of the Brazilian Society of Physics aimed at training teachers of elementary and high school physics.
