João Batista Toledo Prado (Last updating in: 29/04/2008) Holds a degree in Letters (1985), with qualification for Portuguese and Latin language and literatures, from UNESP - São Paulo State University ?Júlio de Mesquita Filho?. He received his Master degree (1991) as well as his PhD degree (1997) in Classical Philology from USP - University of São Paulo (São Paulo Brazil). Since 1987 he has been teaching both undergraduates (Latin Language and Literature) and graduates (courses on Greek-Roman myths in Literature and poetic expressiveness), at UNESP where he is a tenured Professor. He is a member of Editorial Councils and Boards of both electronic and printed academic journals on Classics. He is also a member of the SBEC (Brazilian Society of Classic Studies), being also its vice-president during the 2006-2007 biennium, and a member of APEC (Portuguese Association of Classic Studies). He has experience in Letters, with emphasis on Latin Language and Literature, working mainly on themes such as: classical language teaching; Poetics of classical Latin; metrics of classical poetry; classical Antiquity and its culture (dietetics and nutrition in Antiquity); classical theater (dramatized readings and performances), Linguistics applied to classical languages; studies on the ancient Rome classical culture (mythology, poetics, organization of knowledge on the natural world). From 2008 to 2009, he conducted a post-doctoral research abroad, with the project "Teorie Metriche della Roma Antica (Metric theories of ancient Rome)", linked to the Università Degli Studi di Roma II - "Tor Vergata" (UNIROMA II), Rome-Italy, with a CNPq scholarship (PDE no. 202132 / 2007-2). From July 2015 to June 2016, he developed a new post-doctoral research abroad, with the project "Pieds, mètres, vers: le rythme dans l'antique Greek latine poésie (Poetic feet, meters & verses: the rhythm in ancient Greek and Latin poetry)?, linked to the University of Rouen in association with Paris IV-Sorbonne, with a FAPESP scholarship (BPE no. 2015/02415-9).
