Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at UFSCar. She was the Coordinator of the Psychology Graduate Program at Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2017-2021), rated among the top Psychology graduate programs in Brazil by CAPES (level 6). Debora received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1993), a Master's degree (M.A.) in Social Psychology from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (1997), a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin (2004) and recently conducted post-doctoral research at the Institute of Child Development, University of Minnesota (2013-2014), with support from FAPESP. She was vice-coordinator of the Psychology undergraduate course at UFSCar (2007-2008), vice-coordinator of the Psychology graduate program (2016-2017), member of the Institute of Science and Technology on Behavior, Cognition and Teaching (INCT-ECCE) since 2014, and is currently Head of the Diffusion and Teaching Board at INCT-ECCE (2018-current). She is associate editor of Trends in Psychology (2012-current). In 2019, she coordinated the project CAPES School of Advanced Studies- children and adolescents at risk: ethical dimensions, intervention and scientific inovation. She was coordinator of the ANPEPP work group "Sociocognitive and language development" (2014-2016). She has research projects in collaboration with Dr. Melissa Koenig (ICD, UMN, EUA) and with Dr. Jessica Hay (UTK, EUA).
