Birthplace: Brazil

Biologist (BA and BSc) from USP/University of São Paulo (1986), Botanist, a master's degree (1992) and a PhD (2001) in Plant Biology from UNICAMP/State University of Campinas, I am a Scientific Researcher (level VI - since May/2010), currently (since Nov/2022) at APTA Regional de Pindorama (SAA-SP). I carry out research applying Phanerogam Taxonomy, Ecology, Genetic Resources and Morpho-Agronomic Descriptors, on the themes of biodiversity, Passifloraceae (passion fruit) and fruit plants in general, yams and barbascos (Dioscorea) and other native (wild) or exotic cultivated food plants, as well as natural vegetation, especially trees from the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado. I am interested in the distinction and distribution of species in relation to geographical area and plant formation and in the elements influencing distribution. I was curator (from Mar/2014) of the IAC Herbarium ( at the Agronomic Institute in Campinas. I have coordinated or participated in the description of new species and new combinations in Passifloraceae (sensu stricto) and Primulaceae (Myrsinoideae), among others. I participated in the bioprospecting of aromatic and medicinal plants, which resulted in new products, and the launch of new cultivars of ornamental passion fruit, sweet potato and bushy lippia.
