Graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1991), master's degree in Physical Geography from the University of São Paulo (1997), doctorate and post-doctorate in Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo (2001 and 2010). Currently Associate Professor IV at the Federal University of São Paulo - Campus Diadema where she coordinates the activities of the Center for Ethnobotanical and Ethnopharmacological Studies. She is a permanent advisor to the Chemical Biology Program at UNIFESP. She is an ad hoc advisor to the São Paulo State Research Support Foundation (FAPESP) and an opinion writer for several national and foreign magazines. Between 1994 and 2001, she carried out six ethnobotanical and / or ethnopharmacological surveys between different cultures and in different Brazilian biomes, and has supervised other 40 studies on Ethnobotany/Ethnopharmacology. Develops projects in the area of plants and animals used for food, medicinal and / or toxic purposes by past and present cultures; either to increase the understanding of the man x nature relationship, as well as to indicate bioactive potentials and assess the risks to public health involved in their use. He also developed projects in the area of zoopharmacognosy, seeking greater understanding of the relationship between primates and medicinal plants. Currently he has dedicated studies in the area of traditional use and management, from the perspective of participatory ethnobotany. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
