He holds a Bachelor's and Full Teaching Degree in Biological Sciences from Centro Universitário de Araraquara (UNIARA), as well as a Master's and Ph.D. in Biosciences and Biotechnology Applied to Pharmacy from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP). He was a visiting researcher at the Walter Reed Biosystematics Unit (WRBU) at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., USA. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Public Health at the University of São Paulo (USP). With 130 published articles, 16 organized books, and 20 published book chapters, he has extensive experience in the taxonomy of Reduviidae, especially Triatominae. He has experience with entomological collections, sample collection and processing, entomofauna inventory, and the study of the systematics and evolution of Triatominae. He is a member of four CNPq research groups: Entomological Biodiversity at FIOCRUZ; Laboratory of Arthropod Research (LAPA) at FIOCRUZ; Pathology of Tropical Diseases at Universidade Tiradentes (UNIT, Sergipe); and InSaNa HuNa - Interface between Animal, Environmental, and Human Health at Universidade Dom Bosco (UCDB).
