He holds a degree in Dentistry from the University of São Paulo (1996), a Master's in Pediatric Dentistry from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (2002), and a Ph.D. in Pediatric Dentistry from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (2005). He is currently an associate professor 3 at the University of São Paulo Faculty of Dentistry. He was president of the Research Commission at the same unit and advisor to the Pro-Rectory of Research at USP. He works as a visiting professor at Radboud University Medical Center (RadboudUMC) in the city of Nijmegen, Netherlands. He has experience in Pediatric Dentistry and Cariology, and his main line of research is caries diagnosis. In this matter, he has carried out research with complementary methods and visual inspection, acting in laboratory research, accuracy studies aimed at the performance in the dental clinic, and systematic reviews. He also works in epidemiological research investigating caries diagnosis methods to be used in epidemiological surveys and evaluating risk factors for dental caries in children. He is a pioneer in conducting randomized clinical trials of diagnostic strategies in dentistry. Currently, he has also been interested in issues related to Open Science. In his research internship at RadboudUMC, he will conduct research on the use of Artificial Intelligence in diagnosing and predicting dental caries. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
