Heloisa Buarque de Almeida

She holds a degree in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1988), a Masters in Anthropology from the University of São Paulo (1995) and a PhD in Social Sciences from the State University of Campinas (2001). She is currently associate professor at the University of São Paulo, and was the coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology, and coordinated the USP Diversity program. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Anthropology in the period of 2013-2014, and a member of the Gender and Sexuality Committee of the same association. She has experience in Anthropology, with emphasis on Urban Anthropology and Social Markers of Difference, working mainly in the following subjects: gender, media, social markers of difference, family, body, gender violence. She is part of the Network Nao Cala - Network of professors for ending sexual and gender violence at USP. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
