Degree in Agronomy in 1973 , Master in Agronomy ( Soil Science and Plant Nutrition ) in 1978 and Ph.D. in Agronomy ( Soil Science and Plant Nutrition ) in 1979, by the University of São Paulo . Visiting Scientist at the University of California, Davis, in 1984 /85. Founder, Director and CEO of the Agricultural and Forestry Studies and Research Foundation. He was Director of the Meteorological Research Institute of UNESP. Was Agronomy coordinator at the São Paulo Foundation for Research Support from 1995 to 2007. Full professor at the College of Agricultural Sciences, São Paulo State University. Was vice president of the Brazilian Society of Soil Science and a member of the International Plant Nutrition Council. Vice-PResident of The Scientific Council for a Sustainable Agriculture. Has experience in the area of agriculture , with emphasis on soil fertility , fertilizer , applied physiology, root growth, agricultural production systems, crop rotation and nutrient cycling, working mainly with cotton, soybeans, cover crops and crop-livestock integration.
