Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Campinas (1976), got his master degree (D.E.A.) in Applied Mechanics from the University of Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie) (1977) and doctorate (Docteur Ingénieur) from the University of Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie) (1979). Currently Full Professor at the University of Campinas with the Department of Computational Mechanics. Has spend sabbatical leaves with the INSA of Lyon (1986), Virginia Tech (1991), Acoustics Laboratory of Le Mans, France (2004), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (1996), ENSIM, France (2002), EGIM, France (2005), ECL, France (2007) and University of Paris VI (2010). Member of the scientific committee of many international conferences and Associate Editor of Acta Acustica. Keynote speaker at ICSV2011, ICEDyn2013, Uncertainties2016, and ISMA-USD 2022. Scientific Director of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (2009-2013). Special advisor for exact sciences and engineering for the São Paulo State Research Funding Agency (Fapesp). Member of the National Academy of Engineering. CNPq Senior Researcher. Has experience in Solid Mechanics, focusing on theoretical and experimental structural dynamics, working more specifically on the following topics: vibrations, acoustics, vibroacoustics, active and passive vibration and noise control.
