He is full professor of the Computer Science Department of the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of São Paulo since 2009. He has finished his undergraduate course in 1986 and his M.Sc. in 1989, both in Computer Science at IME-USP. His Ph.D. was supervised by Martin Grötschel at the Technical University Berlin (1994). His main research area is Combinatorial Optimization, and his interests are polyhedral combinatorics and approximation algorithms.
