Undergraduate (1993) and master (1996) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, doctoral degree (2000) in Mechanical Engineering from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers - Paris and habilitation from University of São Paulo (2010). Currently, serves as Full Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the São Carlos School of Engineering of University of São Paulo. Served as Visiting Professor and Researcher in Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro between 2000 and 2002 and as Visiting Scholar at the School of Aerospace Engineering of Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, USA) in 2019. Research interests includes structural dynamics, active and passive vibration control, smart materials and structures, piezoelectric sensors and actuators, uncertainty quantification and analysis, finite element modeling and optimization. Also serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, Associate Editor for the ASME Open Journal of Engineering and as Referee for several journals such as Journal of Sound and Vibration, Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, Journal of Vibration and Control, Smart Materials and Structures, Journal of Intelligent Materials Systems and Structures, Composite Structures.
