José Galizia Tundisi

Bachelor's (História Natural)from Universidade de São Paulo (1962),MSc Oceanography from University Of Southampton (1966) and Doctor in Sciences (Botany )Universidade de São Paulo (1969). Has experience in Ecology, acting on the following subjects: Limnology, Water resources management , watershed conservation, Reservoirs management ,Urban waters management He worked in 40 countries as a consultant in the areas of Ecology, Limnology, Water Resources Management , Capacity Building in Water Management , Reservoir Limnology and Reservoir management . He has 535 papers published in interbnational journals and 47 books .He supervised 42 MSc thesis and 35 Phd thesis .He his a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, of the Academy of Science of Developing Countries and a Staff member of The Institute of Ecology - Excellence in Ecology - in Germany . He is a representative of Brazil in the Water Committee of the InterAmarican Network of the Academies of Sciences .He was President of CNPq from 1995 to 1999. He is a retired Full professor of Envirionmental Sciences of the School of Engineering at São Carlos , University of São Paulo.Citation index Google academic = 14752 . H index 60 i10 index 225. He received several prizes and distinctions from Government of Brazil,, Universities and International organizations . The most important distinction is the Naumann - Thineman Medal awarded by the International Society of Limnology ( SIL) in 2022 for his contribution to Limnological studies in tropical and subtropical inland waters .
