Birthplace: Brazil

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Health Ethics and Policy Lab of the Department of Health Sciences and Technologyin the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, ETH Zurich. My research deals with the study of ethical, societal, and regulatory questions related to emerging science and technology in molecular systems engineering and biomedical engineering. The project I am currently involved - NCCR Molecular Systems Engineering - addresses societal aspects of molecular engineering research though the lens of Science, technology and innovation policy studies. A brief description of my current activities was recently featured in the website of theBrookhaven National Laboratory, and in blogs of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology and of the Society for Social Studies of Sciences. Before joining ETH, I was a postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, affiliated with the Brazilian National Institute of Science and Technology - Health Technology Assessment, and co-founder of the Group of Science, Technology and Innovation Studies in Healthcare. I've also been committed with multiple projects, asPI of a Rapid-Response Grant on COVID-19 and Social Sciences awarded by the Social Sciences Research Council of New York City SSRC, and collaborator of the "Covid-19 and Trust in Science", coordinated by Gil Eyal at Columbia University's Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theory and Empirics. I hold a Ph.D. Degree in Science and Technology Policy Studies from the State University of Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Over the last years,I've been working on projects that aimed to understand intellectual traditions and scientific work practices in fields like Molecular systems engineering, Synthetic Biology, Tissue engineering, and Biological and Biomedical Engineering. I've been working on those topics as visiting scholar of the Columbia University's Department of Sociology, Cornell University's Department of Science and Technology Studies, New York University's Stern School of Business and the Institute for the Study of Science, Technology and Innovation ISSTI, University of Edinburgh, UK. In August 2022 I was a guest researcher in the Soft and Bio Nanomaterials Group in the Center for Functional Nanomaterials of the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY, USA, whereI applied an ethnographic study about values, principles and practices driving the research and facility development on nanomaterials discovery. From March 2023 I am an associatedmember of the Robert K Merton Center for Science Studies at Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
