Birthplace: Brazil

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at the University of São Paulo (2002/2003). Master in Ecology at the National Institute of Amazonian Research - INPA (2006) and Ph.D. in Botany at the Institute of Biosciences - USP (2011). I offered classes of botany and evolutionary biology at the Federal University of São Carlos (campus Sorocaba) during a year, from August 2011 to June 2012. I'm currently developing a post-doctoral project at the Institute of Biosciences - USP (FAPESP process 2012/02110-5; The duration of the pos-doc project is from May/2012 to December/2014, entitled - Evolution of extrafloral nectaries: heritability, natural selection and specialization of ant-plant interactions. I have field experience in ecology and botany including natural areas of rainforests (e.g. Amazon forest) and savannas (e.g. Cerrado). My actual research is focused on questions related to (1) distribution patterns of plants, and (2) trait evolution associated with different aspects of plant-animal interactions. I'm really interested in planning projects with evolutionary biology integrating observational and experimental approaches, considering the evolutionary process on the scale of populations, and the macro-evolutionary pattern among species.
