Obtained a Bachelor degree in Ciências Biológicas (Modalidade Zoologia) at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2004), MSc in Zoology at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2006) and doctorate at the Programa de Pós-graduação em Zoologia from the Universidade de São Paulo (2010). Acted as Visiting Professor at the Universidade Federal do Pará from July 2013 to June 2015 and as a fellow of the Programa de Capacitação Institucional (CNPq) at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (20162017). Currently is an Adjunct Professor at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, and coordinator (2021-2023) of the Programa de Pós-graduação em Biologia Animal (UFRGS). Currently a collaborator at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Universidade de São Paulo and the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution), has experience in Zoology, focusing on Taxonomy and Morphology of Extant Groups, acting mainly in Systematics, Taxonomy and Biogeography of Neotropical freshwater fishes.
