José Antonio Aravéquia graduated in Physics - UNESP (1990), master's degree in Meteorology by the National Institute for Space Research (1993) and PhD in meteorology from the University of São Paulo (2003). Since 1994 is researcher at the National Institute for Space Research. Did Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland, USA, during the period from February 2006 to July 2007. He has experience in Geosciences with an emphasis on DATA ASSIMILATION, acting on the following topics: data assimilation, transfer model radiative, climate anomaly, weather forecast model, weather forecasting, teleconnection patterns and tropical heat source. He served in the Management area of the Weather Forecast Center and Climate Studies CPTEC since 2009 as Head of Operations Division until January 2014 and as Interim General Coordinator until December 2015. Currently serves as a researcher holder, a member of the faculty of the Graduate Diploma in Meteorology, conducts research and technologies in several areas in which also guides masters, doctoral students and undergraduate students.
