Graduation at Medicina from Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (1991), master's at Infectious and Parasitic Illnesses from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2010) and doctorate at Collective Health from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2016). He is currently epidemiologista at Fundação para o Desenvolvimento Científicio e Tecnológico em Saúde.
