Felipe Cardoso Prado Martins

Owns a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of São Carlos - UFSCar. Studied at the University of Texas at San Antonio with a sponsorship granted by CAPES as part of the "Brazilian Scientific Mobility Program" (or "Sciences without borders"). Worked as a summer intern at Abbvie's Oncology Synthesis Group as part of the above mentioned program. Worked as a scientific initiation student at the Natural Products' Synthesis Laboratory - LSPN/UFSCar. Had experience in Organic Synthesis during undergraduate studies, focusing on cross-coupling reactions. Recently completed a Doctorate Degree at the São Carlos' Chemistry Institute from the University of São Paulo, working with the synthesis of anti-T. cruzi compounds and on the synthesis of molecules capable of inhibiting cysteine proteases, such as human cathepsins L, B, K and S, cruzain (parasitic protease) and, more recently, SARS-CoV-2 Mpro (viral protease). Recently had the chance of doing a one-year internship through a BEPE fellowship at Universität Heidelberg, in Germany, where new compounds with antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 were developed.
