Graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry in 1987 at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. He holds a master's degree in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) from the Federal University of São Paulo (1992), a PhD in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) from the Federal University of São Paulo (1996) and a postdoctoral degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is currently a biologist at the State University of Campinas. He is a professor in the postgraduate course in clinical medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at UNICAMP. He has experience in Biochemistry, with emphasis on Molecular Biology, working mainly on the following subjects: genetics, epigenetics, gene expression, cardiac hypertrophy, arterial hypertension and atherosclerosis.
