has a master's degree in computer science (2000) and a PhD in electrical engineering (2005), both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2010 and 2016. She has experience in Computer Science, with an emphasis on Distributed Systems, working mainly on the following topics: Internet of Things, Edge / Fog Computing, wireless sensor networks, ubiquitous computing, middleware, and adaptive systems. She is an associate professor at Universidade Federal Fluminense. She is a member of the Center for Distributed and High Performance Computing at the University of Sydney (http://sydney.edu.au/distributed_computing/). Since 2017 she has been a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Smart World (SWTC-https://cis.ieee.org/technical-committees/smart-world-technical-committee/smart-world-members) . She is currently a member of the Editorial Board of several international journals such as Ad hoc Networks, ACM Computer Surveys, IEEE Transactions on Service Computing, IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society, and ITU Journal on Future and Evolving Technologies. She is one of the chairs of the IEEE Special Council on Hyperintelligence (Hyper-Intelligence Technical Committee -HITC-https://ieee-hyperintelligence.org/member). She is a CNPq Level 1D Fellow.
