Bachelor's at Agronomy at Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz by Universidade de São Paulo (1984), master's in Agronomy (ESALQ) and doctoral degrees in Science at Centro de Energia Nuclear na Agricultura/USP in 1990 and 1997. He is currently professor at the University of São Paulo. Practice areas: Ecosystem Ecology, Applied Ecology, Functioning of Tropical Ecosystems (especially the Amazon, Atlantic Forest and Pantanal), Tropical Soils and Natural Altered Biogeochemical Cycles (especially carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen), Watersheds and Applications of Radioactive and Stable Isotopes in Environmental Studies and Agroecosystems. Accredited graduate courses: CENA (Chemistry in Environment and Agriculture) and Interunit CENA and ESALQ (Applied Ecology) and in undergraduate courses: Biology, Environmental Management, Agronomy and Forestry of ESALQ. Minister undergraduate disciplines: Ecology of Ecosystems, Isotopic Ecology, Pollution of Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecosystems and Integrated Analysis in Watersheds, and in graduate, Isotopic Ecology. Head of Division of Functioning of Ecosystems and member of the Deliberative and Research Council of the CENA. Member of the coordination of FAPESP's Biology area (2009-2018).
