Matheus Colli-Silva holds an undergraduate degree as Bachelor and Licentiate in Biology from the University of São Paulo, Brazil (2017), a master's degree in Botany (2020) from the same institution, with an exchange period at the iDiv, the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research in Leipzig, Germany. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo, with an exchange period at the New York Botanical Garden, USA. His main scientific goal is to study how South American plant diversity is currently distributed, documented and recognized (scientifically and popularly), conducting research with biodiversity, biogeography and conservation, especially with: (1) systematics and evolution of Malvaceae; (2) crop genomics and origin of wild crop relatives (specially cacao and other Amazonian crops); (3) biodiversity informatics and data repositories and synthesis of biogeographical patterns.
