Carolina da Silveira Bueno

Carolina works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Paytan Biogeochemistry Lab at the University of California (FAPESP 2023/08623-9). She holds a Ph.D. and a master's degree in Economics from the Institute of Economics at the State University of Campinas, funded by FAPESP (2016/13820-4). Since 2011, she has been a researcher at the Center for Applied, Agricultural, and Environmental Economics. She was a FAPESP-funded Ph.D. fellow (2019/05278-3) during a period as a visiting researcher at the United Nations University in the Netherlands. Carolina is also a researcher at the Center for Strategic Studies at Fiocruz, where she conducts studies on the sustainable transition of Brazils Unified Health System (SUS) and the decarbonization of the Health Industrial Complex. She has worked as a collaborating researcher for the European Union/Horizon 2020 Program under the European Commission's Marie-Curie agreement. Currently, she is also a postdoctoral researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Planning (Nipe), financially supported by FAPESP (2020/16135-6). She has contributed as a researcher to several projects, including for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Petrobras on renewable energy and sustainable transition topics, and Solidaridad, particularly on sustainable integration and greenhouse gas emissions for communities in the Amazon Rainforest. Carolina coordinated a public policy development and implementation project in partnership between the Institute of Economics at Unicamp, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), and the state of Rio de Janeiro, funded by the One Planet Network Multi-Partner Trust Fund, focusing on public policies for climate resilience based on urban food systems. The project video was selected by the UN for the Climate Series. Her research agendas include climate change and sustainable economic development; public policies and the environment, energy transition, climate vulnerability, sustainable food systems, just transition, and decarbonization.
