Carlos Roberto de Castro e Silva

Castro-Silva, C.R, Ph.D. is a Brazilian citizen, born in São Paulo, capital of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. He earned a post-doctoral degree in Social Sciences from the University of Western Ontario, Canada (2006). PhD in Social Psychology from the University of São Paulo (2004). Master in Psychology (Social Psychology) from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1998) and Specialization in Collective Health from the Department of Social Medicine at the School of Medicine of the São Paulo University (1994). Graduated in Philosophy from the University of São Paulo (1997), and in Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (1990). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Health and Society Institute, Campus Baixada Santista, Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP-BS). He teaches community social psychology at the undergraduate level. Since 2010 he has been an advisor for the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health Sciences, teaching masters, doctors and undergraduates in scientific initiation. He coordinates the research group: Laboratory of Studies on Social Inequality (LeDs). He has been acting in the intersection of the areas of Critical Social Psychology and Collective Health. Specifically, he has developed teaching, research and university extension activities, related to Primary Health Care, Feminist-based Care Ethics, Social Movements and Psychosocial Processes of Social Participation. In addition, he has produced articles and taught in the area of qualitative methodology in health, especially those linked to participatory methodologies, (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
