Stephanie Maia Acuna

Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Biociências (IB)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Always curious, Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo and a Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences with a focus on General Physiology from the Institute of Biosciences, also at USP. Her research has primarily delved into the intricate relationship between parasites of the Leishmania genus and their vertebrate hosts. Stephanie's work has centered on investigating the modulation of microbicidal activity in murine macrophages infected with L. amazonensis, with a particular emphasis on miRNA and metabolite profiles. Additionally, she has explored the metabolism of Dendritic Cells when infected with L. infantum. Stephanie is deeply passionate about immunology, cellular and molecular biology, metabolism, and the integration of these fields in the context of host-parasite interactions.
