Birthplace: Brazil

Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of São Paulo (IQSC) and at EMBRAPA Instrumentation. I hold a Master's degree in Chemistry from São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho - IBILCE, São José do Rio Preto, with a period abroad at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Chemistry from UNESP. During my undergraduate and master's studies, I conducted research on the production of hydrothermal charcoal (biochar) to improve soil properties, as well as on the application of organic matter extracted in interaction with metallic ions and corn germination, evaluating the potential relationship between the chemical structures of the obtained charcoal and germination response. I also conducted experiments with soil columns to assess the potential release of nutrients.Currently, my research is focused on carbon sequestration in intensively managed pasture areas, using different management techniques to increase carbon compared to native forest in the context of climate change, evaluating potential mechanisms of carbon accumulation in tropical soils. To this end, I employ physical and chemical fractionation of soil organic matter, primarily assessing chemical composition and identifying potential transformation mechanisms. My research interests include (i) carbon sequestration in soils, (ii) co-benefits of soil organic matter, (iii) chemical and physical fractionation of soil organic matter, and (iv) biochar and its applications.
