Daniel Vázquez Sánchez

Bachelor of Biology (2007), Master of Science in "Metodology and Aplications in Life Sciences" (2009) and International Ph.D. (2014) from the University of Vigo (Spain). He was graduate student with a JAE fellowship in the Marine Research Institute (IIM-CSIC, Spain) from 2008 to 2014, realizing in 2009 a research stay in NOFIMA Matforsk (Norway). He realized a post-doctorate with a FAPESP fellowship in the ?Luiz de Queiroz? College of Agriculture (ESALQ) of the University of São Paulo (USP) from 2014 to 2018, winning the ICMSF award in the XIII Latin American Congress of Microbiology and Food Hygiene. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher with a PNPD-CAPES fellowship in the Laboratory of Freshwater Fish and Seafood Technology, of the Department of Agri-Food Industry, Food and Nutrition (ESALQ-USP). He collaborates with the GETEP and ESALQFood extension groups and participates in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Food Science and Technology. He has experience in Microbiology and Food Safety. His work focused in evaluate the efficacy of novel and environmental-friendly control strategies (e.g. electrolyzed water, essential oils, antimicrobial peptides) against biofilms formed by pathogenic bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp.) to be applied in the food industry.
