Fernanda holds a PhD (2010) and Masters (2005) in Ecology and Natural Resources from the Federal University of São Carlos (Brazil). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Oceanography (2000) and a Lato Sensu specialization in Environmental Management (2003) both from the University of Vale do Itajaí (Brazil). From 2019 to 2021 she worked as a Senior Post-doctoral Researcher at the MaREI SFI Research Center for Energy, Climate and Marine/ Environmental Research Institute/ University College Cork (Republic of Ireland) on a research funded by the European Regional Development Fund (INTERREG). From 2014 to 2018 she carried out a postdoctoral research with support from the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) in the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo. She performed an international postdoctoral internship at the ARC Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, James Cook University (Australia) with a BEPE-FAPESP support (from 2017 to 2018). She is interested in research in the areas of Planning, Management and Conservation of Coastal and Marine Areas, Climate Change Adaptation, Geoinformation Systems, Human Ecology and Ethnoecology, Environmental Education, Resilience of Complex Socioecological Systems, amongst others. She worked for several years as a substitute professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) teaching the following disciplines: Introduction to Coastal Management, Coastal Environmental Administration, Environmental Law, Bioethics and Legislation, and Social-environmental Research Methods (from 2005 to 2014). She lectured in postgraduate courses at the Oceanographic Institute of USP, University of Vale do Itajaí, Santa Cecília University, Mackenzie Presbyterian University, and University College Cork. She worked for 5 years with environmental management in the public sector (São Paulo State Environment Department (SMA-SP), Guarujá City Hall, and Fundação Florestal/SMA-SP) developing projects in Environmental Education, Fisheries Enforcement, Management of Marine Protected Areas, Coastal Management, Seafront Management, amongst others. Integrated with teaching, research and management activities, she performs as an executive producer of audiovisual content through the "Terra Azul Cultura e Sustentabilidade" initiative, with the purpose of promoting scientific communication, education and environmental awareness for the sustainability of coastal-marine ecosystems.
