Undergraduate in Physics from the Federal University of Viçosa, Master in Applied Physics from the University of São Paulo in São Carlos, and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Düsseldorf in Germany. He was the electronic components research group leader at the "Institut fuer Integrative Nanowissenschaften" at "Leibniz-Institut fuer Festkoerper und Werkstoffforschung Dresden," Germany, and researcher in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Chemnitz. In Brazil, he was head of the Devices Division at the National Nanotechnology Laboratory (LNNano / CNPEM) in Campinas, São Paulo. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute and the Deliberative Council of the Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute. Currently, he is visiting professor/supervisor in the graduate program of the Physics-Chemistry Departments of the State University of Campinas and the Postgraduate program in Materials Science and Technology (POSMAT) at UNESP. General Coordinator of SibratecNano - Network for Innovation in Nanotechnology and Member of the Nanotechnology and New Materials Advisory Committee (CCNANOMAT) of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations (MCTI). Alexander von Humboldt fellow at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. Executive Director of Education, Research, and Innovation of the Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute and Executive Director of the MackGraphe - Graphene and Nanomaterials Research Center.
