Birthplace: Brazil

I am a biologist with a specialization in environmental economics and a PhD in applied ecology, focused on environmental modelling. Since 2011, I have been working with remote sensing and GIS, using spatial data to analyze climate change processes, land cover and land use change, changes in productivity of natural and managed areas, and socioeconomic dynamics. These analyses allow me to make inferences regarding patterns and processes linked to ecology, food and water security, and human well-being. I have extensive experience creating observational indices and performing spatiotemporal analyses in order to map patterns on the Earth surface, at different scales (from watersheds to global scales). I use platforms such as R, GEE, and ArcGIS on a regular basis. I have contributed to outstanding institutions, such as the University of Sao Paulo (USP), the University of Cambridge (UK), and the Institute on the Environment (UMN - USA), and have provided services to national and multinational companies as a private contractor. Working with these institutions not only allowed me to gain useful knowledge and skills, but also helped me form a dedicated work ethic and build a diverse network of professional collaborators. I have experience producing, reviewing and presenting technical, scientific and financial reports to academics, non-technical audiences, and funding agencies. I frequently participate in dialogue with the non-technical community regarding different projects, and I have been training my communication skills to target different stakeholders and media. I communicate fluently in Portuguese and English, and I am improving my Spanish and Italian skills. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
