Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). Campus Diadema. Instituto de Ciências Ambientais, Químicas e Farmacêuticas (ICAQF)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Cuba

Graduate In Chemistry at the University of Oriente (2000), MSc in "Integrated Coastal Zone Management" at the University of Oriente (2003), PhD in Chemistry at the University of Sao Paulo (2006-2009) and Post-Doctoral in Biochemistry at the University of Sao Paulo (2010). Research stages in Neurotoxicology (IIBB-CSIC, Spain, 2008, 2014), Toxicogenomic (UFZ, Germany, 2009) and Metallomics (Helmholtz Zentrum München, Germany, 2014). Professor of Environmental Chemistry, General Chemistry and Toxicology at the Federal University of São Paulo. Visiting Professor at Carleton University, Canada (2016-current). I have experience in Environmental Bioinorganic Chemistry, including Synthesis, Chemical Speciation and Chemical Fractionation approaches. Additionally, I works on the development of protocols for studies of Environmental Toxicology, involving In-silico approaches and Evolutionary Toxicogenomics applied to alternative experimental models such as saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast), Danio rerio (Zebrafish), primary cultures of granular cells of the cerebellum of Mus musculus ( mice). These approaches allow for the design, syntheses and evaluation of less harmful chemicals, subsequently reducing exposure and residuals in studies, principles that define the Green Toxicology. Pricipal scientific contributions involve the elucidation of mechanisms of neurotoxicology and neurodegeneration induced by chemical species of manganese. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
