Dr. Matias Melendez graduated in Genetics by the National University of Misiones (Argentina). Once graduated, he developed his Master's degree project, working with cell therapy for arthrosis at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil, 2006). Then, he developed a one-year post-graduation study in the University of Ireland ?Galway (Ireland), working with TRAIL apoptotic pathway. His PhD degree was obtained in the Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University (France), working with defective and replication-competent viral vectors, based on the HSV-1 virus. He developed his post-doctorate work with oncolytic virotherapy and recombinant proteins for cancer therapy in the Molecular Oncology Research Center of the Barretos Cancer Hospital (Brazil). Now, he is a professor at the Post-Graduation in Oncology Program in the former Institution, and Visiting Professor at the National Cancer Institute (INCA - Brazil), working with recombinant proteins, venom-derived proteins and oncolytic viruses for cancer treatment. In addition, he is a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
