Edismauro Garcia Freitas Filho

Academic Researcher at the Babraham Institute/UK and post-doc at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology and Pathogenic Bioagents, Ribeirão Preto Medical School (FMRP) USP (SP, Brazil), where he had previously received his MSc. and Ph.D. in cell biology. Was a visiting researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH - NIDCR/MPTB; USA). Received the B.S in Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Goiás (GO, Brazil). His research experience in Cell and Molecular Biology and Innate Immunity focuses on the role of signalling proteins and specific lipids in the initial events of signal transduction, especially in lipid rafts, calcium mobilization, cytoskeleton rearrangement, the release of inflammatory mediators, and LC3-associated phagocytosis (LAP) in immune cells. Has published ten papers and received several awards as a result of presentations in scientific meetings and an honourable mention for the best doctoral thesis of the Cell and Molecular Biology Graduate Program.
