Susana Durão is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the Institute of Philosophy and Humanities at the University of Campinas-UNICAMP (since 2023). She has been teaching in the social sciences course, the postgraduate program in social anthropology, and the postgraduate program in social sciences (cities track) since 2013. She is an associate researcher at NEPP/UNICAMP the Center for Public Policy Studies, and at the Gender Studies Center PAGU, at the same university, and a CNPq Level 2 Productivity Scholar since 2019. Durão completed her undergraduate and master's degrees at the Nova University of Lisbon (1996/1999) and her PhD at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon (2006). She conducted postdoctoral research at the National Museum of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2007-2008). She was a contracted researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon (2008-2013). Durão was a Visiting Researcher in the Summer Program of Social Sciences at the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study (2015-2017) and a Senior Visiting Researcher at Mecila: Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Studies in Latin America (2020-21), and a Germany Visiting Scholar at the Global South Studies Center (GSSC) at the University of Cologne (2024). She has coordinated several projects and has extensive publications on the topics of anthropology of work/organizations; cities/violence; policing/public and private security; inequality/gender/racism. Durão has conducted fieldwork in Portugal, Brazil, and Mozambique. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
