Maria Carolina graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (2006), completed a master's degree in Biology (Genetics) at the University of São Paulo (2010), and a doctorate in Functional and Molecular Biology (Physiology) from the State University of Campinas (2016). She has experience in the field of Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Physiology, and Genetics, with a focus on Neurophysiology and Human and Medical Genetics, primarily working on the following themes: neurodevelopment, neurodegeneration and neurodegenerative diseases, differential gene and protein expression, NGS data analysis, and molecular markers of disease predisposition. Since 2023, she has been working as a Technology and Development Specialist at the National Laboratory of Biosciences (LNBio), within the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), on projects focusing on induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSCs) for the development of human neural cell models in 2D and 3D, and studies of factors that influence and affect stages of neurodevelopment.
