Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho (1986), master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of São Paulo (1990), doctorate in electrical engineering from the University of São Paulo (1995) and post-doctorate from the University of California in Los Angeles (2002). Robotics committee coordinator and president of the Brazilian Automation Society (SBA). Associate editor of the Journal Control Automation SBA and the Journal of Applied Mathematics. Has reviewed articles for more than thirty scientific journals and the Mathematical Reviews Database of the American Mathematical Society. Ad hoc advisor of the Brazilian agencies to support research and of the Research Grants Council (RGB) of Hong Kong. he is full professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering of USP in São Carlos. Coordinator of the Robotics Center at USP São Carlos. Advisor to the USP research pro-rector. Mayor of USP Campus in San Carlos. Invited speaker by the United Nations to talk about Robotics in Brazil in order to coordinate a research program between Brasil and Uruguay in 2015.
