Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of Espirito Santo (1976), Master in Chemistry from the Military institute of Engineering I(1979) and PhD in Chemistry from Military institute of Engineering (1983). Post-doctorate in determination of the structure, dynamics and function of virus proteins by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), at the University of Pennsylvania, 1983 to 1985 and from 1991 to 1992. He is currently a researcher - Embrapa Instrumentação Agropecuária. Has experience in biophysics and biochemistry, with an emphasis on NMR and in the Fourier Transformed Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, applied to the following topics: metabolomic analysis of tumor cells, bacteria, plant and animal tissues, food , monitoring of electrochemical reactions in situ, biofuels and other materials. It also works in the development of edible films for food coating, systems for controlled release of drugs and nutrients. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
