He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (1997) and PhD in Functional and Molecular Biology from the State University of Campinas (2004). He is an assistant professor at the Federal University of São Carlos, coordinating the laboratory of Biochemistry and Applied Genetics (UFSCar), developing his activities in the department of Genetics and Evolution. He was vice coordinator of the Bachelor of Biotechnology course between the years of 2010 to 2014 and head of the Department of Genetics and Evolution from 2014 to 2017. He is CNPQ researcher and evelops works in the area of gene expression related to erythrocyte diseases in humans; identification of thermotolerant yeasts and ethanol resistant for application in alcoholic fermentation and isolation and adaptation of yeasts for the production of fermented beverages. He also develops studies of genomic and transcriptomic analysis in termites with interest in targets to contain the termites infestation, genes related to the development and search of proteins of biotechnological interest. Recently it has been developing a series of studies aiming at microbioma analyzes in the gut of cut animals in order to better understand the relationship of the microbiota with animal health.
