Professor and Researcher. Graduated in Biological Sciences (1995) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where she also obtained a Master's degree (1997) and Doctorate (2002) in Sciences (Immunology), with collaborations at the René Rachou Research Center, Fiocruz, MG and the Ludwig Cancer Research Institute-SP. She did postdoctoral studies at Harvard University (2003). Researches the role of several types of non-coding RNAs, especially miRNAs in human diseases. Dr. Ferreira also uses large-scale molecular biology analysis techniques as well as systems biology to integrate data and generate biological interaction networks and understand the role of these molecules in the human interactome. She worked as a researcher at the Immunology Laboratory of Instituto do Coração INCOR. Currently is an associate professor at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Department of Morphology. Dr. Ferreira is the RNA Systems Biology Laboratory (RSBL) leader and part of the CT-Vacinas and INCT-Vacinas group. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
